Zirkzee, Onana dropped from Man United’s first pre-season match

Ahead of Manchester United’s first pre-season friendly, Coach Reuben Amorim has dropped Joshua Zirkzee and Andre Onana from the 29-man squad, Softfootball reports.

The Red Devils returned to Carrington on July 7 for pre-season and the players have been sweating it out as they prepare for the new season.

Today, Manchester United official website released the names of players traveling for their first pre-season match. And the names of Joshua Zirkzee and Andre Onana were missing and the club revealed that it was due to injury.

Both players are expected to return in time for the trip to the United States for the second face of pre-season training and in turn be ready for the first game of the season against Arsenal.

Interestingly, both new signings, Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon were included in the squad for the match that would be played at the Strawberry Arena. It could be the first opportunity for fans to see the duo play for the 20-time Premier League champions.

Cunha has been handed the no.10 shirt formerly worn by Marcus Rashford while Leon will wear no.30.

Other members of the squad sporting new numbers includes Diogo Dalot (2), Chido Obi (32) and Tyler Fredricson (33).

Softfootball reported earlier that Manchester United agreed a deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroon international would sign a five years deal with an option for a further year if he passes his medical.

Manchester United will face Leeds United in Stockholm on Saturday, by 14:00 BST kick-off. The Red Devils we’ll be wearing the new adidas away kit for the clash against Daniel Farke’s men, which precedes further friendlies against West Ham United, Bournemouth, Everton and Fiorentina.

Forwards: Rasmus Hojlund, Matheus Cunha, Amad, Chido Obi, Ethan Williams, Bendito Mantato.
