Barcelona Eye Flamengo’s Ryan Roberto After Securing Roony Bardghji Signing

Barcelona are increasingly making a habit of signing young stars, and after securing the signature of Roony Bardghji, the Catalan club has now been linked with another rising talent, Flamengo’s 17-year-old winger, Ryan Roberto.

SoftFootball confirmed that Bardghji signed a four-year deal with Barcelona until 2029. Now, the focus appears to have shifted to Roberto, who has been identified as a potential addition to the club’s growing pool of young prospects.

Since Deco took over as the club’s director of football, Barcelona have doubled down on their commitment to recruiting emerging youth talent, particularly from Brazil. In that sense, Roberto fits the profile perfectly.

The teenager is right-footed, highly technical, and blessed with exceptional dribbling ability. He primarily plays on the left wing, a position Barcelona are still looking to strengthen.

While Roberto shows immense promise, he wouldn’t be expected to make an immediate impact if signed. The plan would be to integrate him gradually, with playing time split between the first team and Barça Atlètic.

At Flamengo, he’s already catching attention, with manager Filipe Luís reportedly rating him very highly. The winger has already featured for the club’s U-20 side and is expected to break into the senior team soon.

Barcelona, however, are not alone in their pursuit. Sources told SoftFootball that Ajax have also made an enquiry regarding the Brazilian. But Flamengo are under no financial pressure to sell unless a truly irresistible offer arrives.

Roberto joined Flamengo from Athletico Paranaense in 2023. His former club still owns 50% of his rights, and Flamengo hold an option to buy an additional 20% for €1.5 million. Reports suggest they have already triggered that clause.

The young winger rose to prominence after delivering a string of eye-catching performances for Brazil’s U-17 national team, and he has since been called up to the U-20 squad as well.

Barcelona’s interest in Roberto reflects a broader strategy. According to Fútbol España, the club recently invited another 17-year-old Brazilian Joao Lucas talent from São Paulo for a trial but ultimately decided not to proceed with a deal. A similar opportunity may be extended to Roberto, to train and prove himself before a decision is made.

Still, given the level of talent he possesses, there’s every chance Barcelona may go all in to secure his signature.
