Asensio, 29, wanted by AC Milan and Fenerbahce in a fierce battle

About three clubs are battling for the signature for former Real Madrid star and want away PSG player Marco Asensio, Softfootball can confirm.

The 29-year old winger who spent last season on loan at Premier League side, Aston Villa is having quite a busy time in his holiday as AC Milan, Fenerbahce and Villareal are said to be after the UEFA Champions League winner who has fallen out of love in Paris. According to L’Equipe, AC Milan are ready to battle Fenerbahce who had made initial contacts with PSG for the player.

The Turkish side had submitted an offer of €15 million (£13m/$16m) including bonuses to the current UEFA Champions League holders but AC Milan are now looking to outbid them. Spanish side, Villareal are also looking to bring back the winger to his country home but are not financially capable to battle with the other two clubs.

Although, it is unsure Asensio favours a move to Turkey as he still wants to play in Europe’s top clubs, he is assessing all available options before making a decision. Asensio remains under contract at PSG until 2026 but spent half of last season on loan at Aston Villa where he scored three goals and made an assist.

Asensio would have loved to remain at Birmingham as he is presumed to have had a good time there according to him in an interview. Asensio said:

Unai is very good for my position and how I can help the team. I am very comfortable.

AC Milan have been moving swiftly in the transfer window by opening contact their transfer targets. Softfootball confirmed that they had been courting Barcelona’s Adreas Christensen and Arsenal’s Alex Zinchenko who they deem fit to replace outgoing Theo Hernandez.

AC Milan have set their sights on Andreas Christensen as they plan for a new era under Massimiliano Allegri. With defensive reinforcements a priority, the Rossoneri see the Barcelona centre-back as a strong option for their summer transfer plans.

The 28-year-old Danish defender is entering the final year of his contract, which could limit Barcelona’s leverage in negotiations. That factor hasn’t gone unnoticed in Milan, who are closely monitoring his situation with hopes of securing a bargain deal.
