Real Madrid have the highest salary limit in LaLiga for the 2026/27 season, with the club allowed a squad cost limit of €832.7 million, according to figures published by LaLiga and reported by Diario AS.
Barcelona are second with €582.7 million, while Atletico Madrid occupy third place with €361.2 million. The figures underline the significant financial gap between the three biggest clubs and much of the rest of the division.
The latest limit represents a new record for Real Madrid, who have increased their spending capacity from €761 million earlier in 2026. Barcelona have also made a major improvement, rising from €432.8 million after reducing structural costs and increasing revenue.

The development comes amid Real Madrid’s continuing dispute with LaLiga president Javier Tebas. Real Madrid have called for new leadership at LaLiga after Tebas criticised the club’s complaints about refereeing. The club said his comments were inappropriate and called for neutral leadership in Spanish football.
Tebas has led LaLiga since 2013 and was re-elected unopposed in 2023. His relationship with Real Madrid has been contentious, including disagreements over audiovisual rights and other league matters.
Real Madrid’s record salary limit comes as the club continues to operate with significant spending capacity, while its dispute with the league leadership remains unresolved. Fueled by soaring commercial revenues and the stadium renovation, La Liga granted the club a massive €754.8 million cap.
This financial dominance allows them to comfortably register superstars like Kylian Mbappé, contrasting sharply with rivals who face stringent restrictions amidst ongoing legal tensions with league president Javier Tebas.
