The WAFU‑B final between Edo Queens and Ampem Darkoa Ladies remains unresolved after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ordered the match to resume from extra time, despite Edo Queens initially winning the title via penalties.

CAF’s Organising Committee for Women’s Football reached the decision in an official ruling dated September 26, 2026, following a protest submitted by Ampem Darkoa over the procedure used to determine the winner of the September 5 encounter.
The final ended 2–2 after 90 minutes, and Edo Queens went on to win 4–1 on penalties. However, CAF has now annulled the shootout result after establishing that the mandatory 30 minutes of extra time were not played.
CAF has ruled that the match will restart from the beginning of extra time, with the score remaining 2–2. Both teams will play the full 30 minutes, and a penalty shootout will follow if the scores remain level.
Ampem Darkoa argued that going straight to penalties violated Articles 13.1 and 72.4 of the CAF Women’s Champions League Regulations. CAF’s investigation confirmed that the omission of extra time resulted from an administrative error involving instructions given to match officials.
Officials were initially told that extra time was required if the match ended level, but the referee later received instructions to proceed directly to penalties.
CAF stressed that the error was not attributable to either Edo Queens or Ampem Darkoa. As a result, neither club was held responsible for the incorrect procedure.
With the original penalty result cancelled, Edo Queens can no longer be regarded as champions based on the September 5 shootout. Ampem Darkoa will return to the contest with the opportunity to settle the final on the pitch.
The eventual winner will be determined only after the outstanding extra‑time period is completed and penalties, if required.
