Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving in England for six months after being convicted of failing to identify the driver of his Rolls-Royce when the vehicle was caught speeding in Cheshire.
According to court documents reported by The Standard, the Rolls-Royce was recorded travelling at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Wilmslow on March 27. Salah was subsequently prosecuted after failing to provide information about who was driving the vehicle at the time of the offence.
The former Liverpool forward was convicted under the Single Justice Procedure and handed a six-month driving disqualification. He was also ordered to pay a total of £1,044 in fines and costs.
Softfootball understands that the incident occurred shortly after Salah announced his departure from Liverpool following nine years at the Premier League club. He has since moved to Turkey, where he is now playing for Trabzonspor.
The driving ban comes shortly after Salah produced one of the biggest performances of his early Trabzonspor career.
The Egyptian forward hit a stunning hat-trick as Trabzonspor demolished defending Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray 4-0 at Papara Park. Salah opened the scoring in the fourth minute before turning provider for Noah Saviolo to make it 2-0.
He then scored again in the 44th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 80th minute, giving Trabzonspor a memorable victory over the league champions.
Salah’s three goals and assist also took his tally to seven league goals for Trabzonspor, underlining his immediate impact since moving to Turkey.
Softfootball notes that while his driving ban will prevent him from legally driving in England for the next six months, Salah continues to make headlines on the pitch after producing a remarkable display against Galatasaray.
