Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo has revealed that his decision to sign a new contract was driven by his desire to build a lasting legacy at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking about his contract renewal, Softfootball gathered the Ecuador international insisted the decision came from his own ambition rather than any pressure from the club.

Well, they didn’t say anything. I just wanted to keep playing for the club. They wanted me to renew the contract, and I said yes, because I want to become a legend here. So that’s why I renewed my contract.

Caicedo also spoke warmly about teammate Enzo Fernández, expressing his admiration for the Argentine midfielder amid continued speculation over his future.

“I love Enzo, I have a lot of respect for him. I want him to stay but I’m not gonna talk about that…”

The 24-year-old emphasised Enzo’s importance to Chelsea, adding that keeping him at Stamford Bridge would be a major boost for the club.

If he stays, that would be massive.

While praising his midfield partner’s quality and influence, Caicedo chose not to comment further on the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding Fernández, instead reaffirming his focus on Chelsea’s ambitions for the new season.
