Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is expected to spend six to eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a muscular injury.
Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that the forward will likely be unavailable until after the next international break.
Jackson suffered the injury during Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over West Ham earlier in February and was withdrawn early in the second half. Head coach Maresca said:
We knew it was a muscular problem, but unfortunately the scan showed it will be around six to eight weeks.
The injury is a major setback for Chelsea, with fellow striker Marc Guiu also facing a spell on the sidelines with a similar hamstring problem.
There was better news elsewhere in the squad, with Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile nearing returns. Wesley Fofana has also resumed group training but is expected to need additional time before becoming available.
Maresca also dismissed concerns over another injury setback for Reece James, confirming that the defender should be available for selection.
