Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has explained his decision to continue leaving Marcus Rashford out of the team, insisting that players must show maximum commitment every day.
The England international has not featured in a matchday squad for six weeks and was again absent as United secured a 1-0 Premier League victory over Fulham on Sunday.
Softfootball understands that Amorim’s decision is linked to his concerns over Rashford’s attitude and level of effort in training.
The Portuguese coach made it clear that his stance applies to every player and that anyone who meets his expectations can be considered for selection. Amorim said:
It’s always the same reason – the training, the way I see a footballer should do in life. It’s every day, every detail.
He then made a strong comparison, suggesting he would rather select 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital than a player who does not give his best.
Rashford’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain with the transfer window approaching its deadline. A potential move to AC Milan appears unlikely following Kyle Walker’s arrival, while a switch to Barcelona could depend on the Spanish club making room in its squad.
