La Liga has officially rejected Barcelona’s latest attempt to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season, Softfootball reports.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Spanish league confirmed that Barcelona had not submitted a financial solution that complies with its economic control regulations to allow the registration of new players from January 2.
Although La Liga did not specifically mention Olmo and Victor by name, the statement referred to Barcelona’s ongoing efforts to secure the duo’s eligibility for the remainder of the campaign.
Barcelona initially registered both players during the summer after using the salary space created by Andreas Christensen’s long-term injury. However, that temporary arrangement expired at the end of December, forcing the club to seek an alternative solution.
The Catalan giants have encountered several obstacles in their bid to retain both players, including failed legal appeals after two Spanish courts rejected requests for precautionary measures.
Barcelona have also explored financial options, including the sale of future VIP seat packages at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou, in an effort to satisfy La Liga’s financial regulations and complete the registrations.
