Morgan Rogers delivered a standout performance as Aston Villa secured an impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Villa Park.
The former Manchester City youngster played a decisive role in Villa’s success, setting up Jhon Duran for the opening goal in the 16th minute before getting on the scoresheet himself midway through the second half.
Softfootball reports Rogers continued his fine form by finding the net in the 65th minute, putting Unai Emery’s side firmly in control against the defending champions.
Phil Foden pulled one back for City deep into stoppage time after capitalising on a defensive error by Lucas Digne, but the late goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Villa comfortably held on for all three points.
The victory lifted Aston Villa above Manchester City into fifth place in the Premier League standings, extending City’s difficult run of form. Pep Guardiola’s side have now slipped to sixth after another disappointing result, while Villa strengthened their push for another top-four finish with an impressive display against the reigning champions.
