Manchester United have launched an internal investigation to identify who leaked the club’s starting lineup ahead of Sunday’s dramatic derby win over Manchester City.
Both Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho, who was left out of the matchday squad, were questioned by manager Ruben Amorim as part of the inquiry, according to reports.
Softfootball understands that Garnacho’s brother Roberto had previously been accused on social media of being a source of previous leaks, though he has strongly denied any involvement.
Addressing the issue after the victory at the Etihad, Amorim admitted:
I know that story, I think it is impossible to fix, you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents, it is not a good thing.
The United boss has already shown he won’t tolerate ill-discipline, having axed both Garnacho and Marcus Rashford from the squad entirely due to poor training standards, with off-field conduct also reportedly factoring into his decision-making.
Amorim is understood to be satisfied that neither Amad nor Garnacho were directly responsible for the leak, while the club’s internal investigation remains ongoing.
