Moses Simon produced a moment of magic to end Nantes’ lengthy winless streak, scoring a stunning solo goal in a 1-0 victory over Rennes in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
It marked Nantes’ first league win since August, snapping a difficult run of ten matches without a victory that included six defeats and four draws.

Softfootball understands the decisive moment came with just two minutes remaining, when Simon collected the ball on the left, danced past two defenders inside the box, and curled a superb finish into the top corner.
The goal was Simon’s third of the season in 13 league appearances, and came at a crucial time for a Nantes side desperate for a positive result. Rennes thought they’d salvaged a point deep into stoppage time, only for the goal to be disallowed following a VAR review.
The visitors also had a torrid afternoon in terms of discipline, with defender Mikayil Faye sent off before halftime and head coach Jorge Sampaoli also shown red late in the game. The win lifted Nantes out of the relegation zone and up to 13th place.
