Manchester United’s move for Éderson has collapsed, with the Brazilian midfielder no longer expected to join the Premier League club this summer.
United have informed Atalanta that they are withdrawing from the deal after changing their transfer plans, bringing negotiations to an end despite the clubs previously agreeing a €45 million package.
Atalanta remain convinced that Éderson is fully fit and are ready to welcome the midfielder back into their squad ahead of the new season.
The collapse comes after Softfootball reported in the first week of July 2026 that Manchester United were closing in on the Brazilian’s signature, with Éderson undergoing medical assessments in the UK as the transfer appeared to be entering its final stages.

United had already finalised all the necessary paperwork for what would have become the club’s first signing of the summer.
However, the move has now officially fallen through, with the midfielder set to remain in Bergamo unless another club makes an approach later in the transfer window.
