Barcelona remain confident of signing Karim Adeyemi this summer but are unwilling to meet Borussia Dortmund’s €40 million valuation for the Germany international.

Softfootball understands the Catalan giants believe a deal can be completed for significantly less, with negotiations expected to continue in the coming weeks.

Adeyemi has made his position clear by informing Borussia Dortmund that Barcelona is his only preferred destination. The 24-year-old has no intention of signing a new contract, despite his current deal running until June 2027.

Barcelona have already submitted an official offer for the winger and are prepared to remain patient if an agreement is not reached immediately.

Should the transfer fail to materialise this summer, Adeyemi would be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January ahead of a potential free transfer in 2027.

The Blaugrana believe the player’s desire to join the club strengthens their negotiating position and are optimistic a compromise can eventually be reached with Dortmund.
