André Onana has entered the world’s top 10 highest-paid goalkeepers following his return to Trabzonspor on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

Softfootball understands that the Cameroon international has completed a one-year loan move to the Turkish club for the 2026/27 season. The agreement does not include a purchase option or an obligation to buy, meaning Onana is expected to return to Old Trafford at the end of the campaign.

As part of the deal, Trabzonspor will cover the majority of the goalkeeper’s wages while also paying performance-related bonuses. The loan agreement could also earn Manchester United up to £1.3 million in additional payments based on Onana’s performances during the season.

The financial package significantly boosts Onana’s earnings, placing him among the world’s 10 highest-paid goalkeepers and effectively increasing his overall income compared to his previous Manchester United salary structure.

This will be Onana’s second spell with Trabzonspor after featuring in 34 matches for the club last season, keeping six clean sheets and re-establishing himself as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. His performances convinced the Turkish side to pursue another loan agreement despite the absence of a permanent purchase clause.

Trabzonspor will hope Onana’s experience and quality can strengthen their ambitions for the new campaign, while Manchester United expect the goalkeeper to return in 2027 following the completion of his loan spell.
