Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute as Sevilla secured a comfortable 2-0 away victory over Espanyol in Friday’s La Liga clash, Softfootball noted.

The Nigerian striker has now been left on the bench in Sevilla’s last three league matches, raising fresh questions about his role in Garcia Pimienta’s squad.

Iheanacho last featured for the Andalusian club on September 29, when Sevilla played out a 1-1 draw away to Athletic Bilbao.

The 28-year-old has made just five appearances since joining Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City during the summer transfer window and is still searching for his first goal for the Spanish side.

Sevilla’s victory was inspired by Belgian winger Dodi Lukebakio, who netted twice in the opening half to secure all three points.

Lukebakio broke the deadlock in the 20th minute before doubling Sevilla’s advantage on the stroke of half-time to seal a comfortable win for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Softfootball gathered that Iheanacho’s international teammate, Chidera Ejuke, is expected to spend around three months on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during Sevilla’s recent La Liga clash against Barcelona.
