England conclude their 2026 World Cup group stage campaign against Panama at MetLife Stadium on Saturday evening, with the Three Lions looking to silence growing doubts over their tournament form.

Thomas Tuchel’s side began their campaign with an impressive 4-2 victory over Croatia, but their momentum slowed after a frustrating 0-0 draw against Ghana.

Despite the disappointment, England remain in control of Group L. A victory against Panama would secure top spot, provided Ghana do not defeat Croatia by a two-goal margin or more. A draw would also likely be enough to send them through to the knockout stage.

Panama, however, have already been eliminated after struggling to match the quality of their opponents. The Canal Men will be looking to finish their first World Cup campaign strongly, having shown moments of competitiveness despite difficult results.

Team News

England could make changes after injury concerns emerged from the draw with Ghana. Reece James is dealing with hamstring discomfort and is unlikely to be risked, while Declan Rice continues to be carefully managed due to a knock.

Djed Spence could switch flanks, allowing Nico O’Reilly to return at left-back. Kobbie Mainoo is also pushing for a start if Rice is rested.

Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford will be assessed before kickoff, while Anthony Gordon and Noni Madueke could drop out after failing to impress.

Panama remain without Adalberto Carrasquilla, who has struggled with an adductor injury, while captain Anibal Godoy lacks match fitness. Thomas Christiansen is expected to maintain a defensive approach with a 5-4-1 formation.

Possible Lineups

Panama possible starting lineup:

Mosquera; Murillo, Cordoba, Ramos, Andrade, Blackman; Martinez, Barcenas, Harvey, Rodriguez; Fajardo

England possible starting lineup:

Pickford; Spence, Guehi, Konsa, O’Reilly; Mainoo, Anderson; Madueke, Bellingham, Rashford; Kane
