Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has revealed that manager Pep Guardiola played a crucial role in convincing him to reject a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League.

Softfootball understands that the Brazil international was strongly linked with a transfer to Al Nassr during the summer, with reports suggesting he was offered a highly attractive financial package.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Ederson admitted that the proposal was difficult to ignore because of its exceptional value.

“I really had a good offer on the table, an offer that weighed heavily because it was an unusual offer,” the goalkeeper said.

Despite the financial appeal, Ederson explained that several discussions with Guardiola ultimately influenced his decision to remain at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the Brazilian, one particular conversation with the Manchester City boss proved decisive.

“I also had countless conversations with Guardiola, and one of them was decisive,” he added.

Ederson revealed that Guardiola reminded him of the trust the club has in him, the progress he has made under his guidance, and the plans for the future.

“What he said about guarantees, the process, and the development I had under him was decisive when I made the decision to stay at City.”

The 31-year-old remains a key figure in Guardiola’s squad as Manchester City continue their pursuit of domestic and European success.
