Softfootball want to give a special shoutout to Alhassan Yusuf, who really impressed in the Super Eagles squad against Jamaica. His performance was top‑notch from start to finish. Alhassan Yusuf scored his first goals for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in style, a brilliant brace in Nigeria’s 3–0 win over Jamaica in the 2026 Unity Cup final.

He was also very impressive in the semi‑final against Zimbabwe where the Super Eagles won 2–0. His tackling, interceptions, positioning, and ability to cover ground in midfield really stood out. He put in a solid shift and showed exactly why he deserved his place in the squad.

Against Jamaica he was even better. He scored his first two goals in Super Eagles colours and delivered a Man of the Match performance to help Nigeria lift the Unity Cup.

Before the start of the Unity Cup, when the squad list was announced, there were a lot of negative comments from people who clearly haven’t been following his progress at club level this season.

Alhassan has been impressive for New England Revolution. The last time I watched him was against Inter Miami, and he really impressed me there too. He’s strong in the tackle, reads the game well with his interceptions, covers a lot of space, and still has the energy to push forward and get back into midfield. He brings balance, energy, and discipline to the team.

For Eric Chelle to bring him back into the national team after missing out on the last AFCON says a lot. It shows how much he has improved, and it also shows the kind of coach Eric Chelle is, someone who wants to watch players closely and judge them on current form before making decisions.
