Softfootball has gathered that Nigeria women’s national under-20 football team have arrived in Lilongwe ahead of the decisive second leg of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier against Malawi women’s national under-20 football team.
Nigeria travel into the encounter holding a strong 2–0 advantage from the first leg played at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. The opening match saw the Falconets dominate the second half, with a Malawi own goal by Maureen Kenneth and another strike from Kindness Ifeanyi securing victory.
The official Nigeria women’s national football team X account celebrated the team’s arrival with a “TOUCHDOWN!” message alongside a group photograph showing the squad in matching grey-and-green tracksuits outside a modern facility, reflecting strong unity and focus ahead of the crucial fixture.
They posted:
TOUCHDOWN! The Falconets have arrived Lilongwe, Malawi, for their second leg clash with the Malawi Women’s U20 side. They lead the tie [2-0] after the win in Ikenne last weekend. #SoarFalconets

Supporters have reacted positively online, with many expressing confidence in the team’s ability to finish the job and qualify for the tournament. Several fans also praised the coaching staff for guiding the team into a strong position heading into the away leg.
Away from the Falconets, top officials from the Nigeria Football Federation were present at the 76th FIFA Congress in Vancouver, representing Nigeria on the global football stage.
