Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Kobbie Mainoo on a new contract, securing the young midfielder’s future at Old Trafford for the next five years.

The 21-year-old England international has agreed to a deal that will keep him at the club until June 2031. The contract includes a significant salary increase, reportedly rising to around £150,000 per week, reflecting his importance to the team. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the update on his official X handle:

Fabrizio Romano reported;

BREAKING: Kobbie Mainoo has agreed all terms of new contract at Man United, all set to sign!

The agreement will be valid until June 2031 with increased salary, as always reported.

Understand it will be official before end of the season, Kobbie could sign this week.

This extension marks a strong turnaround for Mainoo, who struggled for regular minutes earlier in the season under former manager Rúben Amorim and even considered a loan move to Napoli in January. Since the interim appointment of Michael Carrick, the academy graduate has become a key player, starting all but one of the last thirteen matches during a run that has lifted United to third in the Premier League.

The positive momentum continued with a 2–1 win over Brentford at Old Trafford. First-half goals from Casemiro and Benjamin Šeško, who has now reached double figures for the season, secured the victory. The result leaves United just two points away from mathematically confirming their return to the Champions League.

After the match, Harry Maguire praised the team’s turnaround and credited Carrick with restoring confidence after a difficult period. Maguire, who assisted the opening goal, said belief has returned to the squad as they push for a strong finish to the season.

Softfootball believes that once the deal is officially confirmed, Mainoo will be recognised as a central figure in Manchester United’s long-term plans.

With Mainoo’s future secured and the club close to returning to Europe’s top competition, attention now turns to Sunday’s clash against Liverpool, where a win would confirm their top-four place.
