Arne Slot faced the press at the AXA Training Centre ahead of Liverpool upcoming clash with Crystal Palace, with the Reds set to take on Palace tomorrow in what will be their fourth meeting of the season as reported by Liverpool via their YouTube channel.
The manager touched on form, injuries, squad depth, and the challenge ahead as Liverpool continue their push toward Champions League qualification.

Opening with the team’s recent performances, Slot reflected on the points gathered in the league and how results have shaped their current position:
Our recent results have put us in a good position. In the last eight games, we’ve picked up 16 points, which is strong, even if it doesn’t always feel that way because of the tough fixtures we’ve had in between. Overall, our league form has been acceptable, and that’s what we need to build on.
On the goalkeeping situation, especially with concerns around Alisson Becker, Slot showed confidence in his squad depth, particularly third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman:
We brought in an experienced third goalkeeper for situations like this. You don’t always expect to need him, but when you do, it’s important he’s ready. Freddie has the experience, he’s proven himself at different levels, and he’s a respected figure in the dressing room. If he plays, the most important thing is his performance, and I believe he’s ready for that responsibility.
Looking ahead to the challenge posed by Crystal Palace, Slot emphasized their defensive strength and tactical discipline:
They are a very difficult team to play against. It’s not just about their structure, but also the quality they have. They don’t give away many chances in fact, after Arsenal, they’ve conceded among the fewest goals. That tells you everything. You can watch long stretches of their games and not see clear opportunities created against them. At the same time, they’re very dangerous going forward, especially with their pace in transition.
On Mohamed Salah’s form, Slot acknowledged a slight dip in attacking output but backed his star forward to return to his usual level:
With attackers, there are moments in the season where everything comes naturally and others where you have to work harder and things don’t quite come off. That’s part of football. For Mo, ‘normal’ means scoring goals, and I believe he’s getting back to that level again. It’s important for us that our attackers contribute consistently.
Slot also provided insight into the gradual return of Alexander Isak, who has endured a stop-start period with injuries:
When a player misses so much time, it’s never easy to come back in the middle of a season where everyone else is fully fit and at peak condition. But we’re seeing progress in his performances, and that’s encouraging. How quickly he reaches his best level again, I can’t say, but we’re hopeful it will be soon.
He also spoke about young goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, highlighting his development and potential within the squad:
He’s still very young, but we see a lot of talent in him. Training every day with top attackers improves him, and he’s already gaining valuable experience. If needed, I would feel comfortable bringing him into the game. That shows the trust we have in him.

This fixture comes shortly after Liverpool’s emotional high in the Merseyside derby, where they edged past Everton with a dramatic late winner, a result that boosted morale and reinforced belief within the squad.

Softfootball mentioned that Slot’s press conference reflects a manager focused on balance managing injuries, trusting squad depth, and maintaining belief as Liverpool prepare for another crucial test against a disciplined Crystal Palace side while keeping their Champions League ambitions firmly in sight.
