Former NFF president Ibrahim Galadima has passed away at 74

Football has lost a respected figure following the passing of Ibrahim Galadima, former president of the Nigeria Football Federation, at the age of 74, as confirmed via the NFF’s official x handle.

His passing comes at a time when the current NFF leadership, under Ibrahim Musa Gusau, continues efforts to develop football infrastructure and strengthen international partnerships.

Galadima passed away on April 18, 2026, in Kano, bringing to an end a lifetime dedicated to the growth of Nigerian football.

Born in Fagge, Kano, he began his administrative journey as chairman of the Kano State Football Association between 1977 and 1979 before rising to become one of the most influential figures in the country’s football history.

Widely respected for his leadership during his time as head of the then Nigeria Football Association, Softfootball understands Galadima played a key role in shaping the structure and development of the game in Nigeria.

In a separate development, the Ghana national football team have appointed Carlos Queiroz as their new head coach, signaling a move toward stability ahead of upcoming international competitions.
