Cole Palmer has revealed that securing a UEFA Champions League place would significantly strengthen Chelsea’s position in the summer transfer market, Softfootball reports.
As posted by Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, Palmer while speaking to The Guardian, explained that qualification would help attract the players the club believes are needed to take the next step. He added that Chelsea have already held discussions with ownership and are aligned on specific targets ahead of the next transfer window.
Romano shared:
Cole Palmer: If we finish in a Champions League spot, it puts us in a good position to sign players that we need. We spoke to the owners and they’re sure of the players that are gonna do it, told The Guardian.
Chelsea currently sit sixth in the Premier League after 32 matches with 48 points, leaving them in a competitive race for one of five Champions League qualification spots. The club is also balancing league pressure with an upcoming FA Cup Semi-final against Leeds United F.C..
Palmer stressed that everyone at the club wants immediate success and believes carefully targeted additions this summer can help Chelsea compete for major trophies next season. According to the midfielder, the team is “not far off” from challenging at the highest level.
Cole Palmer on Chelsea project: We’re on the same page. We want to win now. I think if we add right in the summer we can compete for serious trophies next season. I don’t think we’re far off…, told The Guardian.
The England international has previously dismissed transfer rumours linking him away from Chelsea, reinforcing his commitment to the project. His stance also supports comments made earlier by manager Liam Rosenior, who publicly rejected speculation over Palmer’s future.

In other comments shared by Romano, Palmer also praised Rosenior, calling him a “top coach” who will thrive once given a full pre-season to properly implement his ideas and style of play. The comments suggest strong dressing-room support for the manager during a demanding rebuilding phase.

Meanwhile, Palmer has also spoken about Reece James’s situation at Chelsea, emphasizing the need for clear communication between players and club leadership over important long-term decisions.
