Borussia Dortmund have officially confirmed that captain Emre Can has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2027, Softfootball reports.

The announcement, shared via the club’s official X channel, featured Can signing his new deal alongside his personalized black jersey, symbolizing his continued importance within the squad. Despite being sidelined by a serious anterior ligament injury, the extension underlines Dortmund’s strength in his leadership and influence both on and off the pitch.

The 32-year-old midfielder made 16 appearances this season before suffering the injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign. The club has since provided encouraging updates on his recovery following successful surgery, with Can already showing positive signs during rehabilitation.
