Lennart Karl has received his first senior call-up to the Germany national football team ahead of upcoming international friendlies.

The decision was confirmed by football journalist Fabrizio Romano on his x handle, with head coach Julian Nagelsmann placing his trust in the 18-year-old FC Bayern Munich talent.

Romano stated:

Lennart Karl has been officially called up by German national team for the upcoming friendly games. Julian Nagelsmann decides to trust 18 year old Bayern talent.

In late February, Karl committed his future to Bayern by signing a new contract valid until June 2029, effective from February 23, 2026, when he turned 18.

Softfootball understand that Karl’s selection follows an impressive run in the UEFA Champions League, where he has quickly made his mark. The teenager recently scored and assisted in Bayern’s clash against Atalanta BC, taking his tally to four goals and two assists in just seven appearances in the competition.

He had already made history earlier this season by becoming Bayern’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the Champions League during his first start in October.

Bayern also confirmed that academy prospect Wisdom Mike suffered a left hip muscle injury during training on March 15, adding to the club’s injury concerns.
