Borussia Dortmund shared an encouraging update on captain Emre Can following his recent ACL surgery.

The club posted a hospital photo of Emre Can on their official X account showing the 32-year-old midfielder raising his fist in a gesture of determination days after undergoing surgery. The image symbolized resilience and positivity as the German international begins his long road to recovery.

Can suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Dortmund’s 3–2 Bundesliga defeat to Bayern Munich on February 28, 2026.As reported by Softfootball, the injury was officially confirmed by the club on March 1, ruling the versatile defender out for the remainder of the 2025–26 season.

The setback is a significant blow for Dortmund as they continue their campaign in the Bundesliga, where the team currently sits fourth in the standings and remains involved in a competitive race for European qualification.

Medical research suggests ACL injuries typically require six to twelve months of rehabilitation, but Can’s strong mentality and previous experience recovering from knee issues have given supporters hope that he will return stronger.

Still on Borussia Dortmund, teammate Felix Nmecha has recently committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract until June 2030, reinforcing stability within the squad.
