João Pedro once again proved his importance to Chelsea after scoring the fourth goal in their 4–2 victory in the Round of 16 of the FA Cup.

The Brazilian forward came off the bench to seal the win and continues a strong run of form for the Blues. In his last five matches, João Pedro has now recorded six goals and one assist, making him one of Chelsea’s most effective attacking players in recent weeks.

During the match, Softfootball analysts observed visible frustration from the striker as Chelsea’s defenders repeatedly circulated the ball at the back rather than pushing forward quickly in attack. Despite that, João Pedro remained focused and delivered a decisive contribution when his opportunity came.
His performance has also renewed debate about the effectiveness of Chelsea’s other attacking options, particularly Liam Delap. The striker was substituted in the 85th minute after struggling to influence the match.

Delap’s recent form has raised questions among supporters about whether the long-discussed “number nine curse” at Chelsea may once again be affecting the club’s main striker role. Over the years, several forwards wearing the number 9 shirt have struggled to consistently deliver at the club.
In contrast, João Pedro has shown composure in front of goal and a strong finishing ability, qualities that are increasingly making him a key figure in Chelsea’s attacking setup.
If his current form continues, the Brazilian forward could become an even more central part of Chelsea’s plans as the team pushes forward in both domestic and European competitions this season.
