With Mbappé sidelined, attention has turned to the attacking options available to Real Madrid, and Alonso was keen to underline the flexibility and form of Rodrygo, who has impressed in recent outings.

Rodrygo can play anywhere in attack. He’s in a good moment, he played 3/4 great matches. We have different options to replace Mbappé and he’s one of them.

On the pitch, Real Madrid ended the 2025 calendar year on a strong note with a convincing 2-0 victory over Sevilla. That result has given Alonso’s side momentum heading into their next La Liga fixture against Real Betis, as they look to maintain consistency while navigating injuries and a packed schedule.

With key games approaching fast, all eyes will remain on Mbappé’s recovery, while Alonso and his squad prepare to push forward using the depth and versatility at their disposal.
