Brentford’s forward, Yoane Wissa has formally requested an exit after Newcastle United submitted a new bid for him. Softfootball reported earlier that Wissa is desperate to play football elsewhere and has focused on a move to Newcastle United from Brentford this summer.
Newcastle have now offered a £40m bid for Wissa after their initial £25m big was rejected earlier this summer. The Magpies sees Wissa as a versatile option who can operate across the front line and offer a different attacking profile.

Transfer Journalist Fabrizio Romano, via his verified X handle, confirmed that Wissa have informed Brentford about his desire to leave the club.
His tweet reads:
“Yoane Wissa asked Brentford again to join Newcastle after new bid on the table worth £40m package.
“Wissa believes there was pact for his exit this summer and hopes for green light to join #NUFC project.”
Wissa was absent during Brentford’s opening weekend clash, which ended in a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. Head coach Keith Andrews confirmed that Wissa’s absence was linked to his future with the club.
Brentford have lost their captain Christian Norgaard to the Gunners and also Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United. Thomas Frank, after 7 impressive years also left to take up the role of head coach at Tottenham Hotspur.
Softfootball reported earlier that Newcastle had hoped to land Ekitike with a record-breaking offer, but the Bundesliga side rejected the approach.
Talks are expected to continue between the two clubs. If Brentford decides to negotiate, the deal could progress swiftly. With the transfer window approaching quickly, Newcastle may be on the lookout for other alternative.
