Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has delivered a sobering update on his squad following their Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain. The Blues are now shifting focus to the Premier League, but injuries continue to cast a shadow ahead of their clash with Everton as reported by via chelsea’s official youtube channel.

Speaking in the press conference, Rosenior reflected on the situation with a mix of concern and cautious optimism. He admitted that losing key players at this stage is a major setback but stressed the importance of staying focused, saying,

“It’s obviously disappointing to lose players in important moments like this, especially after a result like that, but we have to stay together, stay focused, and find solutions with the players we have available.”

On Trevoh Chalobah, who suffered a heavy challenge from Achraf Hakimi, Rosenior confirmed the defender will be sidelined for weeks but highlighted a small relief. He explained,

“Trevoh Chalobah is going to be out for around six weeks after that tackle. It looked really bad at the time, especially seeing him leave on a stretcher, but in the end it’s better than we initially feared.”

The situation is also complicated in goal, with Filip Jørgensen ruled out after surgery. Rosenior noted,

“Filip Jorgensen has had a minor operation on a groin issue, so he will be out for a number of weeks as well. It’s frustrating because he was building rhythm, but now we have to manage that carefully.”

Club captain Reece James remains unavailable due to a recurring hamstring problem, with the manager taking a cautious approach. He said,

“Reece James is still being monitored with his hamstring. We are not going to rush him because we know his importance to the team, so we’re looking at a return after the international break if everything goes well.”

There was, however, a rare piece of positive news regarding Levi Colwill. After a long spell out with an ACL injury, Rosenior confirmed the defender is back training.

“Levi Colwill being back on the grass is a massive boost for everyone. He’s not ready for matches yet, but just having him around again lifts the group, and hopefully he can play a part before the end of the season.”

With their European hopes now over, Chelsea’s focus is firmly on salvaging their domestic campaign. Rosenior acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating,

“We’ve crashed out of the Champions League and that hurts, but now all our energy has to go into the league. There’s still a lot to fight for, and we have to show character in this moment.”
