Championship club Watford have reportedly expressed interest in signing Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla as the January transfer window approaches.

The Super Eagles forward joined the Spanish club as a free agent after leaving Leicester City last summer but has endured a difficult start to life in La Liga.

Softfootball understands Iheanacho has yet to register a goal or an assist in nine league appearances, prompting Sevilla to consider offers for the 28-year-old during the winter transfer window.

According to reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Watford are monitoring the striker’s situation closely as they look to strengthen their attacking options. Spanish side Las Palmas have also been linked with Iheanacho, setting up a potential transfer battle for his signature.

Although he has struggled in league competition, Iheanacho has shown encouraging form in the Copa del Rey, scoring three goals to remind clubs of his goalscoring ability.

A move away from Sevilla could offer the Nigerian international a fresh opportunity to revive his career, with regular playing time likely to be a key factor in deciding his next destination.
