Gyokeres’ transfer was full of saga as Arsenal and Sporting were at loggerheads over a few issues including how the bonus was to be paid. Gyokeres was linked to join former boss, Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
In Arsenal’s report on the club’s website about Gyokeres’ training, they said:
“In our final training session during our time in Singapore, there was a new face among the group in the form of Viktor Gyokeres, and you can see how he fared in our gallery.”
The Swedish international is one of the prolific strikers in the world as he has bagged lots of goals in his Sporting CP days. The striker scored 97 goals in 102 matches in total in his time at Lisbon. Last season, he scored 39 goals in 33 matches as Sporting CP were crowned champions of Portugal again.
Gyokeres won two consecutive league titles for Sporting Lisbon and a Taca de Portugal as they won a domestic double last season. He will now be in line to make history at Arsenal as the Gunners are chasing a first Premier League title since 2004 and a first ever UEFA Champions League trophy.
The striker will also hope to replicate Thierry Henry’s numbers at Arsenal as he will be wearing the historic number 14 jersey at North London.
