Cyriel Dessers has received UEFA recognition after his stunning finish against Manchester United was nominated for the Europa League Goal of the Day award.
The Rangers striker produced a moment of quality at Old Trafford after coming off the bench during Thursday night’s clash. Chasing a perfectly timed through ball, Dessers beat the offside trap before calmly controlling the pass and finishing into the bottom corner to level the score late in the contest.

Although Rangers eventually lost 2-1 following Bruno Fernandes’ stoppage-time winner, Dessers’ goal stood out as one of the highlights of the evening and earned him a place among UEFA’s nominees.
The Nigerian international is competing against Eintracht Frankfurt youngster Can Uzun, FC Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio and Besiktas forward Milot Rashica for the individual honour.
The nomination reflects Dessers’ impressive campaign, with the striker continuing to deliver important goals despite fierce competition for places at Rangers. He has now contributed 17 goals and four assists across all competitions this season.
Softfootball reports that this is the first time Dessers has been nominated for the Europa League Goal of the Day award during the current campaign.
