Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers is set to leave the Scottish club for Greek giants AEK Athens after a prolific 2024-25 campaign.
Softfootball reports that the Nigeria international has verbally agreed personal terms with AEK Athens, with the Greek club preparing an offer to Rangers for the experienced forward.
Dessers scored 29 goals across all competitions last season, establishing himself as one of Rangers’ most productive attacking players despite facing criticism from sections of the club’s supporters.
The 30-year-old joined Rangers from Italian side Cremonese in 2023 and has since become a regular source of goals. He has scored 34 times in 70 league appearances for the Scottish giants.
Speaking about the transfer situation, reports indicate that AEK had already shown interest in Dessers during the January window but were unable to complete a deal at the time.
The Greek club has now returned with a renewed attempt and appears determined to take advantage of the striker’s availability.
A move to Athens would give Dessers an opportunity to begin another chapter in his European career while strengthening AEK’s attacking options.
