UEFA has officially released its Champions League Team of the Week for Matchday 3 of the 2025/26 season, announced on October 23, 2025. Softfootball understands that the lineup, chosen by the UEFA Technical Observer Group and backed by data from the UEFA Game Insight Unit, highlighted some of the brightest individual performances from across Europe’s top clubs.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk earned his place after a commanding display in the Reds’ 5–1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. The Dutch defender scored his second goal of the campaign and stood tall at the back, making six clearances while leading by example. His presence and calmness were exactly what Liverpool needed to bounce back after a tough run of results.

Barcelona’s Fermín López was the big headline though. The 21-year-old midfielder was named Player of the Week after netting his first career hat-trick in the 6–1 demolition of Olympiacos. López impressed not only with his finishing but also with his control of the game, moving the ball with precision and confidence far beyond his years; even UEFA could not hold their excitement over the Spanish star, posting a video clip of the player’s goals and announcing him as the player of the week in a post via their official X handle.

Elsewhere, Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario was immense between the sticks, facing 23 shots and making eight saves, including five big ones to keep Monaco at bay in a goalless draw. Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães also made the cut after scoring and assisting in their win over Atlético Madrid, extending the Gunners’ unbeaten home run in Europe. Nuno Mendes shone for PSG, contributing a goal and an assist in their crazy 7–2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen that sent fans wild over social media.
The midfield featured Bayern’s teenage sensation Lennart Karl, who scored just five minutes into his first Champions League start, while Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha smashed in two long-range goals in a thrilling 4–2 win in Copenhagen.
Up front, PSV’s Dennis Man scored twice in their stunning 6–2 victory over Napoli, and Athletic Club’s Gorka Guruzeta bagged both goals in a crucial 2–1 win against Girona. Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon also stood out, scoring one and assisting another in their 3–0 victory over Benfica, while covering almost every blade of grass with his tireless pressing.
