Softfootball can gather that United States President Donald Trump will attend Sunday’s Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, confirming his plans during a Cabinet meeting at the White House on Tuesday.

As reported by the Athletic, Trump told reporters of his plan to grace the final of the maiden elongated club competition.
“I’ll be going to the game,” Trump told reporters, following a nearly two-hour session with senior officials.
The final will see Chelsea, who recorded a 2-0 win over Fluminense on Tuesday, face either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain, with kick-off scheduled for 3 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
Trump’s appearance comes amid a deepening relationship between his administration and FIFA. On Monday, world football’s governing body formally opened a new office at Trump Tower in New York, ahead of next summer’s men’s World Cup, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Trump have forged close ties in recent years, with Infantino appearing at Trump’s campaign victory rally in Washington, D.C., and attending his inauguration. On Monday, Infantino appeared at an event at Trump Tower to launch a five-day Club World Cup trophy exhibition, where he praised Trump as “a big fan of soccer.”
Trump was U.S. president when FIFA awarded the 2026 World Cup to the North American trio in 2018 and returned to office earlier this year.
Infantino also thanked the president for his administration’s continued support. US President Trump is said to have included $625 million in security funding earmarked for the 2026 World Cup in his budget proposal.
Asked by a reporter on Tuesday whether he planned to bring the Club World Cup trophy to the match, Trump jokingly affirmed.
“Yeah, I’m going to deliver it. I have it in my office.”
As earlier reported by Softfootball, Chelsea are close to winning the Club World Cup despite all odds; their 2-0 win over Brazilian side Fluminense sent them to the final. A brace from former player Joao Pedro sent the Brazilians packing from the tournament.
With Fluminense eliminated, no South American team remains in the tournament, leaving three European clubs Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid in contention for the title. Fluminense came into the clash on an 11-match unbeaten run and started strongly, going toe-to-toe with the European giants in the early exchanges.
