Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly moved closer to signing AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori before the January transfer window closes.
According to reports monitored by Softfootball, Spurs are in advanced discussions with the Italian club over a potential deal for the 27-year-old centre-back.
However, Tomori is yet to reach an agreement with Tottenham over personal terms as negotiations continue ahead of Monday’s 11pm deadline.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is keen to strengthen his defensive options after injuries have affected his squad throughout the season.
Cristian Romero remains sidelined, while Radu Dragusin suffered an injury during Tottenham’s Europa League victory over Elfsborg on Thursday.
Speaking about the club’s defensive situation, Postecoglou admitted that injuries have continued to create problems for his team. The Australian said:
Every time I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel it turns out to be an oncoming train.
Several other Tottenham players are also recovering from injuries, including Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert.
With the transfer deadline approaching, Spurs are expected to push ahead with their efforts to reinforce the defence, with Tomori emerging as one of their main targets.
