Tottenham is preparing to send Crystal Palace an official bid for Eze

Tottenham Hotspur are set to open formal talks with Crystal Palace over the signing of Eberechi Eze, as they look to strengthen their attacking options before the close of the summer transfer window.

Softfootball gathered that Spurs were planning to return to the negotiating table, and sources have now confirmed that those discussions will begin imminently. The club’s interest in Eze has been long-standing, with manager Thomas Frank believed to be a strong admirer of the England international’s ability.

Eze, 26, is understood to be open to a move to north London if an agreement can be reached between the two clubs. The attacking midfielder has been one of Palace’s standout performers over the past two seasons, delivering consistent performances in the Premier League and earning a call-up to the England squad.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham will revisit their conversation about Eze in the coming days as they desperately want to re-equip their team.

Tottenham lost the Super Cup game by whiskers, having led the entire game 2-0, conceded two quickfire goals and lost in the penalty shootout, which could be defined as a lack of top stars, hence the rush to bring Eze.

Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X handle:

Tottenham are prepared to open formal talks with Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze.

The plan to return to the table reported two days ago, 100% confirmed.

…and also confirmed that Eze would be keen on #THFC move, if the two clubs can agree on fee.

Crystal Palace, however, are not expected to let its star man leave easily. Eze signed a new long-term contract at Selhurst Park last year, and any deal would require a significant transfer fee. Tottenham are reportedly weighing up their offer carefully, knowing Palace will want to be suitably compensated for a player of his influence and potential.

For Spurs, Eze would add another dimension to their forward line. His ability to glide past defenders, operate in multiple attacking positions, and contribute goals from midfield would fit well with Frank’s high-tempo, possession-based system. With European football on the agenda this season, depth and variety in attack are key priorities for the club’s recruitment team.

Palace, meanwhile, face a familiar dilemma. In recent years, the club has balanced ambition with financial prudence, often resisting offers for key players unless the valuation is met. The potential loss of Eze would be a blow for manager Oliver Glasner, who has been building his side around the playmaker’s technical qualities.

Meanwhile, Softfootball had earlier written that Tottenham’s interest in Eze sprang from the injury crisis North London is facing at the moment and seeing that they have Champions League football next season. James Maddison has been declared out for the season, while no replacement for the former captain Son Heung-min, who left for America last month.

Negotiations are expected to focus on both the transfer fee and the structure of the deal, with add-ons and performance-related clauses likely to feature. Tottenham’s decision to move swiftly comes amid interest from other Premier League sides, with competition for creative midfielders intensifying as the deadline approaches.

If talks progress smoothly, Eze could become Spurs’ latest marquee signing, adding to a summer that has already seen the arrival of several fresh faces. For now, both clubs are set for a critical period of discussions that could shape the remainder of their transfer windows.
