Tottenham Hotspur have activated the option to extend captain Son Heung-min’s contract by an additional year, keeping the South Korean at the club until the summer of 2026.
Softfootball gathered that Spurs exercised the extension before their Carabao Cup semi final against Liverpool, ending speculation surrounding the forward’s immediate future.
Son Heung-min joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has developed into one of the club’s greatest modern players, scoring 169 goals in 431 appearances across all competitions.
The 32 year old has also contributed 125 goals and 68 assists in 320 Premier League matches while helping Spurs reach the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.
Despite Tottenham’s inconsistent campaign, Son Heung-min has remained one of the club’s most influential players, registering five league goals and six assists this season while continuing to captain the North London side.
The extension ensures the experienced forward remains a key part of Tottenham’s plans for another year.
