Maduka Okoye is back in a Super Eagles shirt, and he’s not shy about what that means to him.
The Udinese goalkeeper, tipped to start against Rwanda on Monday, spoke to Victor Modo about his return to the fold after a lengthy wait for another cap.

This is the moment I have been waiting for,
he said.
I have been attending camp for a long time now, and finally, I have the chance to play again. I’m thankful and I cannot wait to put on the jersey again and play in front of the Nigerian fans at home in Nigeria.
Softfootball understands Okoye is just as confident about what the squad can achieve at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
With Augustine Eguavoen’s side stacked with talent, he believes another final appearance and the trophy is within reach. He said:
We can reach the final again for sure. This is what we want, this is why we are going to the Afcon. We want to win the Afcon now and I’m pretty sure that we have the possibility to do that.
Belief has never been in short supply for this Eagles squad. Morocco will show whether it translates into silverware.
