Tchouaméni Says Early Real Madrid Success Only Made Him Hungrier for More Titles

Aurelien Tchouaméni has opened up about his mindset at Real Madrid, explaining that winning major trophies so early in his spell at the club has not satisfied him at all. Speaking recently, he said he feels even hungrier for more league titles and more Champions League success. SoftFootball recently reported his long-term mindset about his desire to finish his career at Madrid.

He admitted that lifting trophies was part of his goal when he joined in 2022, yet the feeling of winning pushed him to want more instead of relaxing, in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.

Fabrizio posted:

Aurelien Tchouaméni: Even though I already won everything early with Real Madrid, I’m very hungry.

I want to win more league titles and Champions Leagues, told @lequipe.

He also reflected briefly on the club’s difficult moment last season, especially the early Champions League exit. That disappointment sharpened the motivation inside the squad. SoftFootball also covered the tense mood surrounding the team during that period, including their 1-0 loss to Liverpool.

Tchouaméni also spoke about a tough personal moment at the Santiago Bernabéu. He remembered being booed during a difficult stretch, particularly after being played as a centre back in El Clásico. He accepted that the performance was not good enough but was surprised when the reaction continued in the next match against Celta Vigo.

He said he had to choose between feeling sorry for himself or responding on the pitch. He chose to play with confidence and explained that the negative moment helped him mature. He explained his preferred role on the pitch too. For him, playing as a number six in a 4-3-3 gives him the freedom to control the rhythm and organise the team defensively.

He has also played in a double pivot with different partners, but he feels the single pivot brings out his best qualities. He added that Carlo Ancelotti always reminded him to stay within the width of the box, which helped him understand the importance of positioning. Under Xabi Alonso, he said he has improved even more after spending time reviewing video clips and learning how to read situations faster.

Right now, he is close to returning from injury after missing time with both Real Madrid and the French national team during the international break. He has already resumed ball work and feels he is progressing well. He said he remains disciplined with his recovery and still works closely with a psychologist to handle pressure and emotions. He also studies athletes like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan to stay mentally sharp.

Through all the highs and lows, Tchouaméni’s message remains clear. Early success did not slow him down. It only lit a fire that he believes will drive him for many more years in Madrid.
