Sunderland and Leeds United played out a 1-1 draw in the premier league Match-Day 18 at the Stadium of Light on Sunday evening, Softfootball reports.
During our preview for the match, it was termed the battle of the promoted team as they both came up from the English Championship last season and so far have been holding their own among the elite sides in the league.

After the encounter, Sunderland were disappointed they didn’t take all three points playing at home as they shared with their fans via their official X handle. They posted this photo below:

Sunderland defender, Omar Alderete celebrated his 29th birthday on Boxing Day and was handed a starting place against Leeds United with victory the only perfect gift he wanted from the match.
As if all his prayers were going to be answered by the football gods, Club Captain Granit Xhaka passed a sublime pass to Ivorian Simon Adingra on the edge of the box, he opens his body up before curling the ball into the far corner to give the home side the lead.

The second half was far from perfect for the home side as Leeds United gained control and dominated from midfield. And it was no surprise when in-form striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored to level scores.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s equaliser saw all 11 Leeds players touch the ball uninterrupted. It’s just the second Premier League goal this season to involve all 11 for a team, after Rio Ngumoha’s goal for Liverpool vs Newcastle.

He is averaging a goal every 44.8 touches in the Premier League this season, the third-fewest touches-per-goal ratio in the competition this season behind Erling Haaland (20.8) and Antoine Semenyo (42.6) and his best ever average in the top-flight for any club.
The match ended 1-1 as Sunderland stayed seventh on the premier league table with 28 points while Leeds United are 16th with 20 points after 18 matches so far this season.
