3 Min Read

Brian Brobbey scored a late equalizer as Sunderland denied Arsenal all three points at the Stadium of Light in the Match-Day 11 of the Premier League, Softfootball reports.

The Gunners had not conceded a goal since September, totaling about 812 minutes and Arsenal were basking in the euphoria of beating Slavia Prague 3-0 in midweek. They were confident of victory but the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Arsenal shared the result of the match on their official X handle with a relaxed tone as though they were happy not to leave the stadium of Light with defeat.

It was a rude shock for Arsenal against Sunderland as the Black Cats took a first half lead through Arsenal’s academy graduate, Daniel Ballard.

In the second half Arsenal came back stronger and increased the tempo of the match. Former West Ham star, Declan Rice robbed a Sunderland player off the ball in midfield and played in Bukayo Saka who finished with a low shot from a tight angle.

Arsenal thought they have secured the win when Leandro Trossard scored from the edge of the box to make it 2-1. But the home side rescued a point through Brobbey, who scored a dramatic late equalizer to make it 2-2.

Sunderland were super excited and shared a video of the scenes at the end of the game via their official X handle.

Mikel Arteta’s men pushed for the winner as Martin Zubimendi struck the woodwork with a fierce shot before Daniel Ballard made a fantastic block in the final minutes of added time as the match ended 2-2. The last team to score against Arsenal was Newcastle back in September and the match ended 2-1 in favour of the Gunners.

Arsenal remain top of the premier league table with 26 points while Sunderland are third with 19 points after 11 matches so far. There are no league matches for the next two weeks due to international break.
