Panathinaikos have completed a major defensive coup after reaching a full agreement to sign experienced Dutch centre-back Stefan de Vrij, Softfootball reports.

The transfer is now considered a done deal following successful negotiations that were first reported earlier this week. De Vrij is expected to travel to Athens on Monday to undergo his medical before putting pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Greek giants until June 2027, with the agreement also including an option to extend for a further year.

The arrival of the vastly experienced Netherlands international is expected to provide leadership, composure and defensive quality to the Greek side as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.

AC Milan have also completed one of the biggest transfer breakthroughs of the summer after reaching an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos.

The blockbuster move will shatter Milan’s all-time transfer record and marks the first marquee signing of the Ruben Amorim era at San Siro.

As clubs across Europe continue reshaping their squads ahead of the 2026/27 season, the transfers of Stefan de Vrij and Gonçalo Ramos stand out as two of the most significant pieces of business completed during an increasingly active summer window.
