Spurs Look to End Home Woes Against Sunderland in Premier League Clash

3 Min Read

Tottenham Hotspur return to the Gtech Community Stadium this weekend aiming to bounce back after a frustrating 0-0 draw with Brentford. Softfootball reported that Spurs struggled to break down the Bees’ defence, leaving fans frustrated as the team continues to underperform at home.

Spurs will look to build on previous results, including a 2–0 victory over Brentford that ended their winless run, while hoping to avoid a repeat of the late drama that saw them held to a thrilling 2–2 draw by Newcastle at St James’ Park.

Sunderland arrive at Tottenham on the back of a solid performance against Manchester City, where they impressed despite a 0-0 draw. The Black Cats currently sit five places and three points above Spurs and aim to continue their strong form. Sunderland has posted on their official x handle about their trip to tottenham.

However, their away record remains poor, with only nine of their 29 points earned on the road and just four goals scored in nine away matches this season. Sunderland have also struggled historically against Spurs, failing to score in 14 of their last 16 trips to north London.

Team News

Spurs are missing Xavi Simons (suspended), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), James Maddison (knee), Dominic Solanke (knee), Destiny Udogie (hamstring), and AFCON participants Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma. Lucas Bergvall is a doubt after a knock, while Brennan Johnson has completed his move to Crystal Palace.

Sunderland are without Daniel Ballard (ankle) and six AFCON players, but Brian Brobbey is expected to feature after a minor muscle issue. Wilson Isidor may come in for the final third, with Dennis Cirkin also likely to start.

Possible Lineups

Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Gray, Palhinha, Bentancur; Kudus, Richarlison, Kolo Muani

Sunderland: Roefs; Hume, Mukiele, Alderete, Cirkin; Geertruida, Xhaka; Mayenda, Le Fee, Adingra; Isidor

Softfootball Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Sunderland. With Spurs missing key creative players and Sunderland capable of exploiting defensive gaps, a low-scoring draw seems most likely. Both teams are evenly matched given the current squad issues, making a shared point the expected outcome.
