It is confirmed Xabi Alonso will be the next Chelsea manager. If you look at the CV of all the other candidates, we can confirm he has the best CV. If Softfootball was a Chelsea fan, the only thing we could be worried about is the fact he does not have experience in management in the Premier League.
If you look at his CV, winning with Bayer 04 Leverkusen and what he achieved as a player, we think that is why Chelsea went for him rather than other candidates because there are lots of big managers.
His Leverkusen performance was what attracted Real Madrid, though it did not last, but when it comes to Chelsea not many managers have total control. The question is, will he have it?

Softfootball believes whether a manager or head coach, whatever it is called, one has to fit into the structure they have in place, but we believe he will have more control than Liam Rosenior or Enzo Maresca.

Don’t forget Maresca was doing a pretty good job in his first season, winning two titles, the Club World Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League, then the relationship started to deteriorate behind the scenes.
There was contact from Manchester City for Maresca to replace Pep Guardiola should Pep want to leave City. Maresca was obviously unhappy, he wanted more control, but he was not going to get that at Chelsea.
The question is, will there be tension regarding this should Xabi Alonso take over? Will Xabi Alonso be the type of personality that wants total control and when not given it, could cause a bit of issues within the team?
