Speaking on Orlando City interest in Antoine Griezmann, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle has revealed Diego Simeone’s composed response. Simeone emphasized respect for the 34-year-old’s autonomy, underlining their decade long bond at Atlético Madrid.
Romano posted:
Diego Simeone on Orlando City interest in Antoine Griezmann: “I won’t speak for him. I care about him a lot”. “I already told him what I think: that he should always choose what’s best for himself. He’s in a place where he deserves to decide what he wants to do”.
As earlier reported by Softfootball, Orlando are in advanced discussions over a potential move for Antoine Griezmann to fill their Designated Player slot and hold the player’s MLS discovery rights, giving them priority in negotiations.
However, multiple sources indicate Griezmann is unlikely to depart before the summer transfer window despite the American side’s push to secure a deal before March 26.

Fans has praised Simeone’s class while celebrating Griezmann’s achievements, including the 2018 UEFA Europa League triumph. Since Griezmann return in 2021, he has scored 176 goals, reinforcing his legacy at the club.
Elsewhere, Inter Milan have dismissed rumours linking Simeone with a return to San Siro. Club president Giuseppe Marotta firmly denied claims of any agreement, reiterating full confidence in current coach Cristian Chivu.
