Sevilla failed again to impress their home fans at the Ramon Sanchez stadium after a 2-2 draw against Elche in week four of the 2025/2026 La Liga season, Softfootball reports.
Isaac Romero gave Sevilla the lead in the 28th minute with a right-footed strike from outside the box, assisted by Rubén Vargas. But the hosts lost the tempo in the second half as Elche responded with two successive goals from Andre Silva and Rafa Mira, respectively. Andre Silva, who got his first start of the season, restored parity for the visitors in the 54th minute through Martim Neto’s assist before Elche came in front in the 70th minute from Rafa Mira’s free kick that looped past goalkeeper Orjan Nyland. Sevilla pressed forward in the final stages and equalised in the 85th minute through Peque Fernández, who latched onto Alexis Sánchez’s through ball before finishing clinically.
The result keeps Elche unbeaten after four La Liga matches for the first time this century. For Sevilla, the draw extends their poor home run; they’ve now won just one of their past dozen league games at home in 2025.

Into the game, Coach Matias Almeyda gave former Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta his debut start with the Seville-based club as they hoped for their first three points of the season and to avoid conceding goals, but the reverse was the case; the club fell short in front of their fans. But three minutes into the game, Elche’s midfielder Ali Houary caused the first offensive attack for the club after his outside shot went sideways. Meanwhile, five minutes later, Lucien Agoume was first booked for a yellow card for a foul on Elche’s Aleix Febas.

minutes. However, two minutes later, Elche tried to restore parity with Victor Chust’s header at the centre of the field that went wide. Sevilla’s Marcao’s shot was also blocked by goalkeeper Matias Dituro in the 37th and 44th minutes, respectively. The first half ended with Sevilla leading with Isaac’s solo strike.
But the second half began with a fresh start for Elche, with Matim Neto’s 48th-minute strike going wide. The equaliser thus came for the equaliser in the 54th minute after Portuguese striker Andre Silva, having earned his coach’s trust after being given a first start of the season, tried several times. Then Rafa scored a resounding kick to put Elche in front in the 70th minute.
Sevilla, however, denied Elche a chance for a three-pointer, with Peque Fernandez latching onto substitute Alexis Sanchez’s 85th-minute strike that was subjected to a VAR review that awarded the hosts the goal as both teams recorded their second consecutive draw.
The draw for Sevilla hasn’t done much for them, as they remain in 11 points, while Elche stays in fifth with six points. Sevilla’s next game is against Alaves, while Elche welcomes newly promoted Real Oviedo; the games will be next week. Saturday.
